REX INITIATIVE STARTUP SUMMIT

Entrepreneurial forces are relatively strong in this country, as the lack of jobs and a rise in poverty leave a few other options for the Nigerian people.

Startup Project was enacted by REX INITIATIVE to making youths attain an enviable creative personality, building social enterprise and encouraging entrepreneurship.

The objectives of the project are; to expose young individuals to lucrative vocations which requires little start up funds, to encourage young entrepreneurs to training others, to give young individuals avenue to getting financial freedom, to create networking avenue for aspiring entrepreneurs, to create avenue for sharing of ideas.whatsapp-image-2016-09-03-at-1-37-46-pm

The project has four phases which are; Networking Stage, Learning Stage, Exploring Stage and Mentoring Stage.

The project kicked off with the first two stages imbibed in a summit on 3rd September, 2016 at Gbagada Estate Baptist Church (17, Baptist Church Street, Gbagada Estate Phase 2, Lagos).

Some of the personnel present were Akinnike Tobi (Founder, Young Protege Leadership Foundation), Omoyemi Israel (Founder, EZ Cognition), Folayira Ibukun (MD/CEO, FIET Beads), Ayandele Bunmi (MD/CEO, The Making Catering Services) and Rev’d Tony Oluwaremilekun. The summit was coordinated by Adekanbi Ademola Michael (Founder, Rex Initiative).

The participants started storming the venue with great and radiant attires and looks at around 9:00am.

The Summit kicked off with an exposition session which was taken by Akinnike Michael of Young Proetege Leadership Foundation and Omoyemi Israel of EZ Cognition. The former talked on ‘Financing Small Scale Business’ while the later spoke on ‘Developing Creative Thinking Ability’. The presentations were thought provoking,

After the exposition session, the participants were grouped into the various skills available for learning. The skills available were Catering, Bead Making, Event Planning and Decoration which lasted for about four (4) hours.

The aim of the summit is to select outstanding participants from each group for a year mentorship. The participants who met the criteria were selected after the training session for the next phase of the project.

It was indeed a great and memorable summit.
